The following pages discuss how I have met or are striving to meet the Australian Professional Standards For Teaching as outlined by the Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards NSW.
The 7 areas support quality teaching and recognise the invaluable role that teachers play.
Lead Teacher accreditation recognises exemplary teachers who have demonstrated consistent practice and are well-respected by colleagues, parents/carers and the community. Lead Teachers represent the school and the teaching profession in the community and are known for initiating and leading activities that focus on improving educational opportunities for students and for inspiring colleagues to improve their own professional practice.
The 7 areas are:
- Know students and how they learn
- Know the content and how to teach it
- Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
- Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments
- Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
- Engage in Professional Learning
- Engage professionally with colleagues, parents / carers and the community
